Finally, there is a solution to reducing and reversing dramatically high rates of recidivism among inmates offered to you through the combined efforts of New Directions, Inc. and CDI!

The Corrections Career Transition Certified (CCTC) credential is the first program of its kind targeted at training and certifying correctional groups, or those who work in similar transition environments with inmate release and reintegration, at the private, federal, state, and county level to drive a reduction in recidivism by empowering criminal justice specialists with skills in:

  • Employment strategies;

  • Personal marketing;

  • Resume development;

  • Skill marketing;

  • Industry research;

  • Interview and negotiation coaching;

  • Image presentation.

With the Corrections Career Transition Certified (CCTC) program, no longer will re-entry transition specialists or the pre-released inmates they serve find themselves having to find their way through the maze of ‘hiring and job search techniques’ to prevent recidivism.

New Directions, Inc. has established a program designed to help the offender, help the re-entry coordinator/transition consultant and help American business. The program is designed to give pre-released individuals ONE thing to think about and do every day for 60 days, prior to release, to re-integrate quickly. The goal is to help the pre-released inmate prepare to become a meaningful participant in society. The program includes:

  • Five different assessments tools;

  • CD’s to help the individual think outside the box (when in most cases they are fearful and leery of what lies ahead of them upon release);

  • Processes by which to master interviewing, negotiation, overcoming liabilities (especially that of being a previous offender with a record), personal target marketing, realistic expectations from hiring authorities, image presentation, resume development, identification of viable companies and recruiters, as well as tracking of the individual upon release.

Program Modules

The CCTC course includes the following modules:

Personality Assessments and Creative Thinking: Provides an overview of the steps necessary to make better career choices and find work that is truly satisfying. The course explores over 50 methods for breaking away from old habits and non-productive behaviors and to successfully think “Outside the Box” to find the right employment. It also provides the tools necessary to help you unlock the secrets of your personality type to allow you to find a truly fulfilling job that enhances the quality of your life.

Career Transition Management: Provides an overview of the entire career transition and job search process. The job-search system described in the CD set and the accompanying Career Transition Manual was developed to expose each individual to a maximum number of available opportunities in both the advertised and unadvertised market segments. The coordinated approach covered in this course will help the individual to determine who wants you for what you really want to do.

Mastery of Interview and Negotiation Techniques: Provides an overview of the entire interviewing and income-package negotiation process.

Resume and Cover Letter Development Strategies: Provides an overview of a very different and extremely effective approach to writing resumes and cover letters based on business principles and advertising concepts. The course explores the 25 things an ex-offender must know about letters and resumes, the 35 resume and letter writing mistakes to be avoided, and step-by-step instructions on developing a resume.

Pre-Release Preparations: Provides an overview of the entire pre-release and career transition and job search process. The pre-release training system described in the textbook was developed to thoroughly prepare each inmate for the day of release. Required exercises for each of the 60 days prior to release will be completed as if you were the inmate. The coordinated approach covered in this course will help the individual to become thoroughly prepared for release.
