Your population is changing … is your career center evolving to meet these changes?

Whether you are serving Millennials or adult students, this brave new model will provide you with the strategies, mind set, structure, and ideas to elevate your career center visibility faster than a speeding bullet.

  • Hovering Offerings. Colleges realize that parental involvement can play an important role in the success of Millennial students. Turn helicopter parents from liabilities into assets in the résumé writing and school-to-work transition process.

  • Engage Your Audience. Change your perspective to meet the needs of Millennials—a group least equipped with coping skills who lack the knowledge, grit, and understanding to create a clear path through college. Develop a structure that gets students in the door and keeps them coming back from freshmen to seniors as they prepare for what they call the “real world.”

  • Embrace Job Search 2.0. Introduce students to Job Search 2.0 brand-building strategies: LinkedIn, Facebook, blogging, interactive company employment websites.

  • Drive the Bus! Brand and market your career center image to showcase it as a valuable resource for students. Build your presence to a place where students want to be!

Take H.E.E.D. and drive your career center into the FUTURE!

In this 4-hour pre-conference session on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, from 1:30-5:30 PM you will join a small group of no more than 30 career center professionals for this high-intensity, fact- and process-filled session meant to capitalize on expert information as well as brainstorm best practices. Four key takeaways from the program include …

  1. Time-saving, step-by-step processes for capitalizing on the enthusiasm and participative nature of the Helicopter parent to catapult student preparation for job search.

  2. Innovative resume tools including award-winning new graduate resume samples and critical critiquing and resume development strategies to ensure your students have the presentation they need to land jobs and boost career center placement rates.

  3. Best practices formula for branding your career center as “the place to go” for Millennials by capitalizing on the traits, strengths, programs, and technologies to which they relate.

  4. Innovative strategies for capturing Millennials as freshman and keeping them engaged along their 4-year path to strengthen job-search preparation and to ensure success upon graduation.

PLUS: All registrants receive a customized PenceOhio portfolio developed *by* college students *for* college students, Southworth résumé paper, and copy of Interview Pocket RX -- a $75 value.
