Conference Concept Contest
Help us make a splash with a new image!
Orange Globe

If you have never been to a CDI conference you might not be aware of how exciting, dynamic, and edgy our conferences can be for attendees.

DIFFERENT is the word that comes to mind with our participants calling them: 'theatrical', 'engaging', 'empowering', 'edgy, and 'a place where even the shy easily get involved and have a great time'.

Our meetings are about collaboration . . . they are about bringing out the Superhero in the Career Professional . . . about making business, life, and career FABULOUS.

They are all about CDI's mission to provide opportunities in: Education, Connection, Empowerment, and Fun.

We may know this and you may know this, but . . .

HERE'S YOUR MISSION:

How do we show and tell everyone else 'it's not just your ordinary conference?'

Come up with a concept for CDI's conference -- we're not looking for a slogan -- we're looking for a total concept. We don't want to be the 7th Annual Conference . . . we want to be <fill in the blank with your out-of-the-box idea that will tell career professionals who and what we are all about>.

So, what have you got?

Here's your chance for both you and CDI to win!

Get your ideas in by December 21, 2007 and we will enter you in the conference concept contest  to win a great prize.

The winner we pick will receive a one-year membership (valued at $150). If we don't pick a winner from the entries, we will still randomly draw a name and provide the winner with a one-year membership (valued at $150).

Send your idea to: info@careerdirectors.com.

When Your Interviewer is No Good

When a client is preparing for the interview, it's a good idea to coach him or her on the topic of handling bad interviewers. A bad interview can be categorized as someone who is unprepared, does not know what to ask, rambles on and on, is more nervous than the job seeker, and does not move the interview forward. Vault.com's blog written by Recruiting expert Judi Perkins shares some ideas in the post, What To Do With A Bad Interviewer at http://www.vault.com/blogs/blogs.jsp?blog_id=1228.

A few suggestions include:
  • "Toot your own horn" and tell stories of relevant achievements.
  • "Jump right in with the questions you came prepared to ask. What are the priorities that need to be addressed immediately? What's a typical day like? How long has the interviewer been with the company? Why does he stay?"
  • "Listen closely to what the interviewer is saying.  When he pauses for a breath or there's a gap in the conversation, insert one of your finest sales points that relates to what he's been saying."
