CDI empowers its global members to seek out and utilize innovative methods and successful techniques in their professional practices, personal development and services to clients.

It is our goal to provide practical tools and resources that will increase the effectiveness of our members and enable them to expedite successful career transitions on behalf of their clients.

While the membership consists of career counselors and coaches, outplacement professionals and human resource professionals, the recurring thread of our members is that of professional resume writing and career-related research.

As CDI continues to develop into a top professional "learning organization of the 21st century" future planning involves developing the research function to even more strategic and refined levels of conceptualization and practice.

Research Focus

There are three types of RESEARCH we seek to provide:

  • Insight into trends and industry transitions.

  • Results of 'surveys and academic studies' related to career services, hiring and resume writing.

  • Practical approaches and hands on tools that will help our membership support, service and direct clients to effectively utilize resume and marketing materials to achieve their career goals and objectives.

Career Industry Mega Trends Research Report - 2nd report for 2010 available now!

"I started reading the Expert Trends Research report and couldn't put it down! What an invaluable read it turned out to be.

There is so much great information on current hot topics in the industry that I have already put into immediate use within my practice. I absolutely loved the information on the latest interviewing trends. In fact I pretty much loved all of it! I know this is going to be something that I will keep referring to as a professional resource. Well done to the Committee for their efforts."

“One of the single best benefits is the knowledge YOU gain from the Trend committee’s research efforts and the time that saves you (in the Expert Trends).

In a nutshell, I am a member of the Expert Trends Research Committee. These Expert Trend reports are a team effort from our team of CDI researchers to keep up with these critical trends that affect our industry. We essentially summarize our research on career topics so you don’t have to. I’m not sure about ‘you’, but obviously the Internet has put a lot of us on ‘information overload’ so I believe this is an ideal way to keep up.

Just another value added benefit for being a CDI member!

The resources available to help you guide your clients are worth the read and re-read. They should help you “position” your conversation with the client to appear as the expert, or have the resources to provide needed information to the client.

I would encourage anyone who hasn’t read these reports to take the time to do so, especially our new members. CDI has such valuable resources, be sure to tap into them.”

"I took an opportunity to scroll through the Millennials report and it is OUTSTANDING! It is easy to review and worth returning to for another read:  it is informative (e.g. factual), and includes a point of view (e.g., recommendations for candidates, career professionals, and organizational development  types), and the presentation is not couched in fluff."
